We want to THANK everyone who participated. THANK YOU to all the volunteers, without you it is almost impossible to pull this off. And to all the people who weathered the storm and came out to support Pirate Fest...THANK YOU , you are almost as NUTS as WE are!!!
Many of the festivals and events that were scheduled that weekend closed or cancelled. WE STAYED OPEN even during the HAIL!!! ( We're learning there is a fine line between dedication and stupidity!!)
THANKS to all the Vendors who toughed it out and still sold things on the rain!!!
Please bear with us as we sift though everything. This was not only a physical drain but a financial one as well. As everything is either prepaid or contracted there are a LOT of expenses attributed with an event of this size. And unfortunately we can't just say "...sorry we got rained out, can you just forget the bill?" So this major financial hot comes totally out of our pockets.
We really believe in Pirate Fest and the good it does and brings to the community, but it's pretty hard working on this for five years, not getting paid a dime and then losing money just because Mother Nature decided to have a bad day!! We'll step back, take a good look and see what the next step is.
There were definitely some bright spots. The Zappos Regatta was a blast!! There were some AWESOME entries this year! We will post pictures and standing next week!
It will be difficult for ANYONE to beat the three peat that the Pirate of Pop pulled off with the Davy Jones Award!! It was "TITANIC" to say the least!!
So THANKS again to everyone who supported and came out this year. It was definitely a HISTORIC year!!
