Las Vegas' ONLY Pirate, Steampunk and Faerie Festival!!!
NEW this year...1st Annual CARDBOARD REGATTA sponsored by Zappos!! A cardboard Regatta??? That's right, people will build boats (or other floaty things) and race against each other in the newly refurbished lakes at Lorenzi Park!!! Build and race as a personal project, a family project or even a group/business project. Want to make it a tad more interesting?? (this IS Vegas!) Issue a PERSONAL CHALLENGE! You can challenge a competitor, challenge another department, challenge another location! While you race for the big prize, you have your own personal race!! This is promising to be an exciting and just plain FUN activity. With it being sponsored by ZAPPOS , there is NO SEPARATE ENTRY FEE!!! Click on the Regatta link and check it out!!
There will also be exciting new contests and competitions that will emphasize the participatory aspect of our festival!!! We are expanding the Kids Treasure Map Challenge. The Rope Making event was so successful they have made a second rope making machine!! That's right each kid gets to learn how to and actually make their own piece of rope!! Again...you don't just watch the pirates...your ARRRR the pirates!!!
Pirate Fest Las Vegas is a hands-on family oriented event!! Sponsored by Councilman Ricki Barlow and the City of Las Vegas, we featured music, entertainers, vendors, food, games, activities and more!! If you like the Pirates of the Caribbean, you'll love Pirate Fest Las Vegas Until then.. here is a little back ground info:
There is a story behind our Pirate Fest. Our own "history" if you will. It is the "Legend of the Pirates of The Dry Lands". Click on LEGEND for a taste of the backstory!! At Pirate Fest you will see and interact with the characters from the story but not just the back story, come see what has happened since everyone was cursed and ended up here!!
In fact this is the reason for Pirate Fest!! It is the anniversary of the Curse! Some feel that on the anniversary, if the proper conditions are met, they may be able to break the curse and return to the sea!! But they may need YOUR help!!! Pirate Fest is not just about pirates!
Pirate Fest is a Steampunk Festival. One of the crew members is a bit of a tinkerer. So he begins building his contraptions using steam of course!! He is a more "gentlemanly" pirate. One of the Pirate Captain's takes him under his protection and his crew helps Thomas build his "airship" to escape the Curse and fly back to the seas!! Well..the Curse sent them crashing back to earth!! But they keep trying!!
Pirate Fest is a Fantasy Festival. It seems as part of the curse, there were some fairies that were deposited here right with the pirates!!! They don't really like the pirates and have started to rebuild their own Faerie Realm!! They would like the pirates to break the curse...and leave!
So if your interests include Fairies or Steampunk, Pirate Fest is for you too! This isn't a normal fair or festival, here you don't just watch.... you participate!!
Need something new and exciting for the family to do? Maybe do a few things you can check off of your "bucket list"? There will be games and activities here you will not see anywhere else! How about being a Captain of your OWN ship?? Enter the Zappos Cardboard Regatta. Build and race your own ship, built entirely out of cardboard!! Pirate Fest will have it all!!
Pirate Fest will return to historic Lorenzi Park, April 25-27, 2014!! Lorenzi Park's renovation is complete and Pirate Fest will have access to the new lake and all the new amenities it has to offer!!
What is important to remember is the Pirate Fest is a living, breathing entity. The Pirates, Faeries and Steampunk characters continue to live and interact. Things have changed since last year, they've been busy!! Come see what's new this year!
