Memoirs of a Buccaneer

This book was brought to my attention by the man himself, Hurricane. He will be performing with his group at Pirate Fest LV. So catch his shows too I hear they are awesome. He saw that we are doing an Author's Row and simply said "Hey I have this book I wrote." I looked it up and was totally enthralled. What a life he has lived! This is a truly special book about some of his stories of being a performer for 30+ years. I encourage you to read this book. It will give you some inspiration and good direction. And he maybe able to bring some books for Author's Row. Show some support and buy his book to get him there!

Book DescriptionPublication Date: November 10, 2011 For the last three decades, Robb (aka Hurricane) has lived a pirate’s life, traveling the world as a performer, musician, actor and storyteller. In Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Years Before the Mast, he shares his many bold adventures and legendary misadventures with you. The story begins in the early 1980s in the Pacific Northwest as the youngest member of the only known pirate entertainment troupe in the country at the time, and ends in Key West, Florida in 2011 where Robb rediscovers his love of piracy. In the ensuing pages, you’ll find all the elements found in the epic pirate novels – lifelong friendships, historic battles, unexpected betrayal, talk of mutiny, loves found and loves lost, the pursuit of treasure, visits to exotic ports of call – and a cast of characters that are bigger than life. All the stories are true. Often fantastic, sometimes heart wrenching, they are the sum of an entertainer’s life that has seen it all over the last 30 years. And yet somehow, he found a way to sail through the tempests and find paradise just beyond the horizon. Through his exploits as a lovable rogue, he has touched the lives tens of thousands of children of all ages over the years. And in return, they have touched his heart in often surprising ways. Yo ho, yo ho, it's a pirate's life in Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Years Before the Mast. Grab your sword, put on your tricorn and set sail for an adventure of a lifetime with Captain Hurricane and his crew. Editorial Reviews About the Author Since 1982, Robb Zerr has been a pirate entertainer, setting a course for unchartered waters and points unknown, even to himself. In his non-piratical life, Robb is an award-winning writer and author of the daily humor column, RobZerrvations.com, a mediocre musician, talented entertainer, tortured novelist, dedicated father of two, fervent community activist, horrible gardener, occasional world traveler and bon vivant. He is proud to have called Seattle his home for most of his life, for that is where this whole saga begins.

Bloody Jack

Ahoy mates Pinky here, you might need some reading material to pass the long days and nights before Pirate Fest Las Vegas makes it's debut. I am a very avid reader and I am going to pass along some authors and books for you to check out and draw some inspiration from. The first author I recommend for your delight is actually a young series. Designed more for children it has the appeal to adults as well. It has a lot of historical things in it, but has that great fiction base. I suggest that parents read the book first so you know what is going to be in the book to discuss topics with your children. This series is top notch. Boys might have an issue with the main character being a girl but it will grab attention. There are 10 books so far in print and several more on their way. I have the honor to announce to you the first series in my book locker:
Bloody Jack (book 1)
By L.A. Meyer
http://clairdeloon.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=6&Itemid=15
Life as a ship's boy aboard HMS Dolphin is a dream come true for Jacky Faber. Gone are the days of scavenging for food and fighting for survival on the streets of eighteenth-century London. Instead, Jacky is becoming a skilled and respected sailor as the crew pursues pirates on the high seas. There's only one problem: Jacky is a girl. And she must use every bit of her spirit, wit, and courage to keep the crew from discovering her secret.
Do me a favor and buy the books direct from the authors. It gives them a bit more then just the royalties or nothing at all from resale.

The PIRATE CAPTAIN

Ahoy there mates. It's Pinky with the next book for your delight and entertainment while you wait for Pirate Fest Las Vegas. This next book is HUGE literally. About 8 inches x 10 inches by 2 inches thick. It is a historical fiction love story by Kerry Lynne called The Pirate Captain: Chronicles of a Legend
The PIRATE CAPTAIN tm, Chronicles of a Legend
Kerry Lynne © 2012
I am Nathanael J. E. Blackthorne, the pirate captain.
During the year of our lord 1753, I was sailing the West Indies, minding the oars in me own boat, pursuing me purpose in life, to disrupt the unholy alliance of two corrupt men and destroy their lives as they destroyed mine.
Then I mistakenly kidnapped Catherine Mackenzie—wrong person, easy mistake, you understand—and me life went arsey...turvey.
Having lost hearth and heart to the Jacobite War, and wanted by King Georgie’s courts, Cate has lived several years destitute and alone. She desires but one thing: a place to belong. How could I deny that?
Alas, if it were only that simple. This is a story of scarred people, blinded by their defenses. It’s the story of trust, or rather, the lack of. It’s the story of loss of faith and disbelief that Providence might smile again.
It’s neither mere romance, nor Treasure Island revisited, and not an “Arrgh!” is uttered. Have you the courage to join us?”
Nathanael J. E. Blackthorne
Ciara Morganse, pirate captain
"The Pirate Captain" is a historical fiction novel about pirates unlike any other. With its adventure, mysticism and tapestry of colorful characters, it's neither a romance novel nor a “Treasure Island” wannabe. There are square-riggers and sea battles without miring the reader in “nauticalese”. The author's hope is for the reader to find an escape from the here-and-now, by slipping into a world from which he/she will not wish to leave. Review by "Woody", CompassRose Books, By The Board Publishing
This is a highly entertaining book. I loved it. So please do me a favor go to www.piratecaptain.net
and purchase the book directly from the author. Authors receive very little in royalties unless you buy direct, or none at all if you buy it resale. Keep good books in publish.- Pinky

Hook and Jill

Ahoy Mates! Book three in my reading series is a great spin on a glorious tale we all know about Captain Hook. Written by Andrea Jones The Hook and Jill Saga will get your attention. This is not your children's storybook. Fall back in love with Neverland and the enthralling characters in Hook and Jill. She now has book two in her saga out as well Other Oceans. I can't wait to read it.

Book One of the Hook & Jill Saga by Andrea Jones
Published: August 2009
ISBN 13: 978-0-9823714-9-7
ISBN 10: 0-9823714-9-7
Binding: Hardcover
Size: 304 pp., 6 x 9"
Wendy Darling learns. What appears to be good may prove otherwise, and what seems to be evil…is irresistible.
In this startling new vision of a cultural classic, Wendy intends to live happily ever after with Peter Pan. But Time, like this tale, behaves in a most unsettling way.
As Wendy mothers the Lost Boys in Neverland, they thrive on adventure. She struggles to keep her boys safe from the Island's many hazards, but she finds a more subtle threat encroaching from an unexpected quarter…The children are growing up, and only Peter knows the punishment.
Yet in the inky edges of the Island, the tales Wendy tells to the Lost Boys come true. Captain Hook is real, and even the Wonderful Boy can't defend his Wendy against this menace. Hook is a master manipulator, devising vengeance for his maiming. Insidious and seductive, Hook has his reasons for tempting Wendy to grow up.
Revenge is only the first.
Deepening the characters so artfully sketched by Barrie, Hook & Jill reveals the dark side of innocence at which Barrie hinted in the figure of Peter Pan. It brings alive a daring Wendy who asks questions and seeks truth; it delves into the man, Hook, the iconic villain. Striding from fairy-tale and thrusting into reality, Captain Hook becomes a frightening force indeed.
Please do me a favor and order the books direct from the authors. They do not get much in royalties if you pick up the book elsewhere, or none at all if it is a resale. Keep books alive order from your authors.

Darksail

This book was recently sent to me by the author himself. I looked at the cover, pawed it over and said well it might be decent. It seemed to have a fun premise but I thought to myself how well did he research and how good is his writing? After many hours packing down my ship I picked up the book figuring I would get a few pages in and just give it a whirl.... One and a half hours later I had passed the 110 page marker. The book I am talking about is Darksail by K.P. Hayden. It is a well written, well done book! Needless to say with in a 24 hour period I finished the book. I couldn't put it down! He is an amazing break through author. He is working on his website so he is just through Amazon and by contact. If you order his soft cover book through him he will sign every one. It is also available for e-format on http://www.amazon.com/DARKSAIL-ebook/dp/B0096ZS8UO
Darksail by K.P. Hayden
Publication Date: January 2, 2013
“Spruance, there’s some kind of new movement. The glow is increasing.” The pilot’s words were rushed and with elevated pitch. “It’s dividing into three separate lights...they're rising out of the water like they’re attached to something. A larger structure is becoming visible beneath them.”
“Sweet Mother of Jesus. Spruance, it’s a ship! A whole damn sailing ship! It just raised up out of the water right in front of me under full sail...there’s not even the slightest blemish on her canvas!”
“Whose ship?” demanded Lawrence.
“Wind Devil, this is Spruance," Maynard exclaimed. "Confirm your last transmission.”
The heavens off Spruance’s port bow exploded in a spectacular display of twisted blue and white tridents of lightning. Flash after flash hurtled toward Wind Devil and the sea; thunder fists battered Spruance’s weather decks and superstructure. Maynard shielded his eyes with his forearms to prevent the intense light from destroying the remnants of his night vision.
The forward lookout called down to the bridge. “SURFACE CONTACT. Three bright lights, forty degrees off the port bow.”
With that we have a new beginning...
Why would Blackbeard return now? What plans might he have in store for Angela Killian, a young attorney from Charleston, South Carolina? Why would he seek to force US Navy Commander Robert Maynard into a fight to the death? What happens if he can’t be stopped? These questions, as well as many others, are answered in the pages of DARKSAIL.
A Personal Note From The Author:
Several years ago, my wife and I were enjoying a late summer getaway to the beach in Avon, North Carolina. We had just finished sharing an article about Blackbeard and the various other 18th-century pirates of the Carolina coast, and decided to take a stroll along the breakers. After walking a short distance, my wife spotted a shiny copper penny tumbling in the thinning waters of a retreating wave. As I bent down to snatch it from the sand, I thought to myself: The real truth of Blackbeard’s treasure...just my dumb luck!
Despite the measly booty, a seed was planted. Over the next eighteen months, I combined my experiences in the United States Navy with a fascination of the supernatural...and DARKSAIL was born. Seventeen years later, it is ready share with others
A Touch of Early American History:
Though beheaded in battle that fateful morning of November 22, 1718 in Ocracoke Inlet at the hands of the Royal Navy, it seems not even death can contain the spirit of Blackbeard.
If you find yourself in the mood for a swashbuckling adventure with a patriotic flair, and a strong dose of US Navy blue, Blackbeard and a gang of his friends, have an original, robust new story to tell.

How I Became a Pirate

This is a cute children's book.
Melinda Longs- How I became a pirate
Publication Date: September 1, 2003
Pirates have green teeth—when they have any teeth at all. I know about pirates, because one day, when I was at the beach building a sand castle and minding my own business, a pirate ship sailed into view.
So proclaims Jeremy Jacob, a boy who joins Captain Braid Beard and his crew in this witty look at the finer points of pirate life by the Caldecott Honor–winning illustrator David Shannon and the storyteller Melinda Long. Jeremy learns how to say “scurvy dog,” sing sea chanteys, and throw food . . . but he also learns that there are no books or good night kisses on board: “Pirates don’t tuck.” A swashbuckling adventure with fantastically silly, richly textured illustrations that suit the story to a T.
